asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will refer the proposed takeover of Premier Consolidated by Carless Capel to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission; and if he will make a statement.

My right hon. Friend announced on 10 September that he had decided not to refer this proposed merger to the commission.
