Mineral Exploration Grant Scheme

Mr. Harris

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry when he expects to be in a position to announce the outcome of his review of the mineral exploration grant scheme; and if he will make a statement.

Interested parties were invited to participate in the review announced on 30 July by my hon. Friend the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, the hon. Member for Rossendale and Darwen (Mr. Trippier). Written representations have been received as a result, and useful meetings have been held with the Trade Associations and mining companies who wished to discuss the matter.

As was announced on 30 July, a further announcement is expected in November.
