The output of 64K random access memories fully or partially manufactured in the United Kingdom is currently running at a rate of around £150 million per annum.

Inmos has announced that it is developing a 32 bit advanced microprocessor (the Transputer) in the United Kingdom. The company has manufacturing facilities at Newport, South Wales. Nippon Electric Company (NEC) has announced an expansion of its manufacturing facilities at Livingston, Scotland, which will include manufacture of 32 bit microprocessors.
