Mr. Soley

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) if he will publish a table showing (a) the proportion of the employed and unemployed population of each of the following areas: Londonderry, Limavady, Omagh, Strabane, Fermanagh, Dungannon, Magherafelt, Cookstown, Armagh, Coleraine, Ballymoney, Newry and Moyle, by religion and within those categories in overall terms and by sex and (b) the percentage of male and female unemployment rates in each district council area by religion;

(2) what are the economic activity rates (a) in overall terms and (b) for males and females for the total population of (i) Roman Catholic and (ii) all non-Catholic denominations in Northern Ireland; and what is the unemployment rate (a) in overall terms and (b) for males and females for (1) Roman Catholics and (2) all non-Catholic denominations in Northern Ireland.

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the distribution, taking the 1968 standard industrial classification and on the basis of the 27 industrial orders used in the 1971 census, of the economically active population of Northern Ireland for the following categories, in percentage terms, as revealed by the 1981 census: (a) all Roman Catholics, (b) male and female Roman Catholics, (c) all Protestants and (d) male and female Protestants; and on the basis of the 1981 census, what proportions of Protestants and Roman Catholics are found in the following categories in overall terms, by sex and by religion: (i) professional/managerial, (ii) lower grade non-manual, (iii) farmers, (iv) skilled manual, (v) semi-skilled manual, (vi) unskilled manual and (vii) unemployed.
