HC Deb 29 October 1984 vol 65 cc865-6W
Mr. Wareing

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what action he proposes to take to give greater protection to residents of multioccupied bedsit flats, hostels, and bed and breakfast accommodation; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Gow

Local authorities have wide powers which enable them to safeguard the interests of residents of houses in multiple occupation. My Department is now carrying out research into the use and condition of such accommodation; the need for further measures will be considered in the light of the outcome of that research.
