HC Deb 29 October 1984 vol 65 c845W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is satisfied with the way in which 777 Falkland wounded were treated by his Department.

Mr. Whitney

Yes. Whenever a service man is to be invalided from the armed forces as a result of injuries sustained in the Falklands conflict, a claim for war disablement pension is automatically considered and priority given to any treatment needs. To date 80 claims for war disablement pension have been received in respect of Falklands wounded; and pension has been awarded in 78 of these cases. In addition arrangements have been made for all these pensioners to be visited by a war pensioners' welfare officer.

Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will obtain for the library of his Department "Another Story, Women and the Falklands War" by Mrs. Jean Carr.

Mr. Newton

Yes.
