§ Mr. RentonIn his report to the General Assembly on the question of the Falkland Islands, dated 17 October 1984, the Secretary-General has said
It continues to be my belief that dialogue and confidence-building measures can help both countries restore normalcy in the South Atlantic".We have consistently stated that we share this view and regret that progress has been blocked by Argentina's insistence that there can be no normalisation without agreement on the establishment of a mechanism to discuss sovereignty.
