HC Deb 29 October 1984 vol 65 c846W
Mr. Wareing

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will introduce legislation to provide for stringent controls over the prescribing of potentially harmful combinations of powerful drugs to elderly hospital patients; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

The prescription of drugs is a matter for the clinical judgement of the doctor involved, having regard to particular circumstances such as the age of a patient.

Information about dosage and administration, interactions and contra-indications is contained in the product data sheets which are supplied to all doctors.
