Dr. McDonald

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will provide an estimate of the costs of the Dewe Rogerson advertising and public relations campaign in connection with the forthcoming sale of British Telecom.

Mr. Pattie

The cost of the advertising campaign by Dorland Advertising Ltd. up to the issue of the prospectus is expected to be £7.6 million.

In view of commercial discussions still continuing figures for other parts of the campaign must remain confidential.

Dr. McDonald

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will provide an estimate of the cost of the special incentive schemes to promote the sale of British Telecom.

Mr. Pattie

The cost to the Government of the telephone bill voucher and share bonus incentives will largely depend on the response of members of the public to the British Telecom offer for sale.

Dr. McDonald

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will provide an estimate of the costs of the Power Behind the British Media campaign by Ireland Advertising in connection with the forthcoming sale of British Telecom.

Mr. Pattie

Responsibility for the "Power behind the Button" corporate advertising campaign by Dorland Advertising Ltd. on behalf of British Telecom lies with the company.
