HC Deb 26 October 1984 vol 65 c734W
Mr. Deakins

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he satisfied himself that land storage of nuclear waste is not feasible when issuing permits for dumping at sea.

Mr. MacGregor

It has been Government policy following the sixth report of the Royal Commission on environmental pollution to dispose of rather than to store radioactive waste whenever this is possible and environmentally acceptable. Decisions on applications to dump such waste at sea have therefore been taken in the light of this policy.
