§ The Prime MinisterThe War Cabinet did not meet after July 1982. In my letter of October 1984 to the right hon. Member for Plymouth, Devonport (Dr. Owen), a copy of which is in the Library, and my reply to the hon. Member for Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley (Mr. Foulkes) on 22 October 1984, I explained that information on the Belgrano's course came to the attention of Defence Ministers at the end of November 1982. At that stage there was no reason to inform former members of the War Cabinet of operational details concerning individual incidents during the campaign.
