HC Deb 26 October 1984 vol 65 cc741-2W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what steps he has taken to arrange for troops in the Falklands to be taught to minimise their disturbance of the landscape.

Mr. Stanley

All service men receive detailed instruction and guidance on conservation including protection of the landscape before beginning a tour of duty in the Falkland Islands.

Mr. Prescott

asked the Secretary of State for Defence to whom the contract to convey cargo and passengers by air between the United Kingdom and the Falkland Islands was given; what is the value of the contract; whether it was awarded on an open tender system available to other air operators; which airlines were considered for the contract; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Stanley

My right hon. Friend will be replying shortly.
