HC Deb 26 October 1984 vol 65 c759W
Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if, in establishing the amount of subsidy for British Rail in 1985–86, he will give full consideration to expenditure needed on track maintenance.

Mr. David Mitchell

It is for British Rail to decide what expenditure is required for this purpose and to include the necessary provision in its claim for grant.

Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if, at his next meeting with the chairman of British Rail, he will discuss the modernisation of signal systems serving the lines between Willesden Junction and Wembley Central station.

Mr. David Mitchell

I should be glad to discuss this with the chairman if he wished to raise it when next we meet.
