Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what estimate he has made of the total payments and subsidies which Her Majesty's Government will make to the agriculture industry in the current year; and if he will specify the policy objective of each category of spending.

Expenditure in the United Kingdom in 1984–85 on market regulation under the CAP and on national grants and subsidies is expected to total £1,765 million of which £1,134 million is due to be funded from the Community budget. The policy objectives for this expenditure are given in the Government's Expenditure Plans 1984–85 to 1986–87 (Cmnd. 9143) and further details of individual measures and schemes in the 1984–85 Supply Estimates for Class III Votes 1 and 3, Class XV Vote 1 and Class XVI Vote 2.
