HC Deb 25 October 1984 vol 65 c683W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what steps are being taken to ensure the earliest possible introduction of further measures of public transport integration in London.

Mrs. Chalker

British Rail and London Regional Transport have a duty under the London Regional Transport Act 1984 to co-operate for the purposes of coordinating the passenger transport services they provide. My right hon. Friend has set the chairmen of BR and LRT objectives for closer co-operation, and a programme of work is being carried forward under the new London Passenger Transport Group. BR and LRT have already agreed on the early introduction of a new joint BR/LRT travelcard.
