HC Deb 25 October 1984 vol 65 c654W
Dr. Roger Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many farming units, which produced less than 200,000 litres in 1983, have benefited by the reallocation of the quotas that have become available through the surrender of quotas under the outgoers scheme in (a) Wales, (b) Dyfed and (c) the former county of Carmarthen.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

The purpose of the outgoers scheme is to purchase 2¼ per cent. of the England and Wales quota which will then be reallocated to those producers who delivered less than 200,000 litres in 1983, in order to return them to their 1983 level of production.

Letters of acceptance under the outgoers scheme have been issued to the following prospective outgoers:

Number
(a) Wales 540
(b) Dyfed 252
(c) The former county of Carmarthen 97

Applicants were given four weeks in which to accept or withdraw their applications but can defer replying if they are awaiting final direct sales quota or the results of a special case application for additional quota.
