HC Deb 25 October 1984 vol 65 cc659-60W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State answering in respect of the Arts what arrangements will be made for the continuation of open air concerts at Kenwood should the Greater London council be abolished.

Mr. Waldegrave

Ownership and management of Kenwood house and the grounds attaching to it will pass to the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission following the abolition of the GLC. Responsibility for future events at Kenwood will rest with the commission but its chairman, Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, has indicated that he would like the lakeside summer concerts to continue.
