HC Deb 25 October 1984 vol 65 cc677-8W
Mr. Wareing

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what proposals for inter-governmental action to deal with the international debt crisis he has made; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Lawson

The British Government have played a leading role in promoting co-operation between Governments, international institutions and banks to tackle the problem of international debt. This co-operation has helped the international financial system respond swiftly and flexibly. The soundest way to create conditions for renewed growth and development is to build on the strategy developed thus far.
