HC Deb 25 October 1984 vol 65 cc688-9W
19. Mr. Leigh

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on the intervention price for bread-making wheat.

Mr. MacGregor

In our view, intervention buying for bread-making wheat at a price higher than that for feed grains is unnecessary. We welcomed the agreement at this year's price-fixing to reduce the gap between the two prices from 10.3 per cent. to 7 per cent. We will continue to press for the further reduction, and preferably the elimination, of this gap.
