asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many claims there have been since 1 January for (a) attendance allowance and (b) mobility allowance; and how many were granted in each case.

The requested information at the latest dates for which it is available is as follows:

  1. a. For attendance allowance, of the 121,700 applications decided up to 30 June, 93,500 were successful:
  2. b. For mobility allowance, 58,100 of the 85,700 applications decided up to 15 October resulted in an award.
