HC Deb 24 October 1984 vol 65 cc607-8W
Mr. Spearing

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what changes in personnel, vehicle availability, ambulance mileage and coverage for non-urgent cases are planned in respect of the London ambulance service.

Mr. John Patten

The South-West Thames regional health authority, which manages the London ambulance service on behalf of the three other Thames regions, has recently issued a strategic planning framework for consultation. This contains guidelines on the future pattern of health services within the region over the next 10 years. Included in it are proposals for certain changes within the non-emergency ambulance service in order to meet anticipated demand within the resources likely to be available. I am sure the chairman of the South-West Thames RHA would be pleased to provide the hon. Member with further details.
