HC Deb 24 October 1984 vol 65 c586W
Mr. McQuarrie

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what representations he has received against the proposals of the Greater London council to ban night time and weekend lorry traffic passing through and delivering goods within the Greater London area; what action he proposes to take on this matter; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Chalker

As I told my hon. Friend the Member for Eastleigh (Sir D. Price) on 22 October, at columns 420–21, hundreds of firms and trade associations have written protesting to the GLC about its proposals and demanding a public inquiry. I would hope that, in the wider interests of London, the GLC is now giving proper and serious consideration to these representations.
