§ Mr. Teddy Taylorasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will publish a table showing the total exports too and imports from the Common Market for all visible trade and manufacturing goods trade, respectively, and the consequent surplus or deficit in respect of each year from 1973 to 1983, respectively, and for 1984 to date; and if he will publish separate tables showing the same information in respect of the original six members of the European Economic Community.

For the original six members, trade figures are available only on the "Overseas Trade Statistics" basis. Corresponding estimates of the balances are included for the current membership as well as the balance of payments estimates which are preferred because they measure both exports and imports free of freight and insurance costs.
