HC Deb 24 October 1984 vol 65 c603W
Mr. Parry

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will estimate the effects on the construction industry of the measures introduced in his last budget at the latest date.

Mr. Peter Rees

It is not possible at this stage to make precise estimates of the overall effect on the construction industry of the measures introduced in the last Budget but as explained at the time they were expected to be beneficial. The industry stands to benefit particularly from the reduction in corporation tax, the reduction in stamp duty and, as a relatively labour intensive industry, the ending of the national insurance surcharge.
