§ Mr. Winnickasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the latest position regarding those who have taken refuge in the British consulate in Durban; what representations he 598W has received on behalf of those remaining in the consulate; what is the content of the letters received from the lawyers acting on behalf of the South Africans in the consulate and if he will place a copy in the Library.
§ Mr. RifkindI refer the hon. Member to the statement I made on 23 October at column 559–60. There have been many representations to the Government on behalf of the three. We naturally have considered these carefully. I am arranging for a copy of the statement issued by the three on 18 October to be placed in the Library of the House.
