§ Mr. Wallaceasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give the number of convictions under section 2(1) of the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries Act 1951 in (a) Lerwick and (b) Kirkwall sheriff courts in each of the following years: 1957, 1960, 1963, 1966, 1969 and 1972 to 1983.
§ Mr. AncramTo produce the information for the years 1966 and earlier: would incur disproportionate cost. Thereafter the type of court and the area in which the offence took place are identified, but not necessarily the individual sheriff court. Nor does the classification used by my Department for the years after 1979 separately identify the statute referred to. No convictions under section 2 of the 1951 Act were recorded in 1969 and 1972 to 1979. For the later years there was one case of a salmon and freshwater fisheries offence in Shetland in 1983, but whether or not under section 2 of the 1951 Act is not recorded.
