HC Deb 23 October 1984 vol 65 c561W
26. Mr. Bermingham

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he is satisfied with mental health provision in Merseyside.

Mr. John Patten

Mental health provision has a very high priority throughout the country. Changes need to be made to meet significant changes in the perception of the most appropriate care for patients. We are satisfied that Mersey regional health authority is giving those necessary changes a very high priority. Mental health provision was a major subject for discussion at the Mersey regional review on 26 September and a copy of the action plan agreed for 1984–85 has been placed in the Libraries of both Houses.
