HC Deb 23 October 1984 vol 65 c532W
Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what effect the proposed abolition of the Greater London council will have upon joint education projects administered by one London borough on behalf of others; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Dunn

Each outer London borough is a local education authority, and will not be affected in this regard by the abolition of the GLC. In the area of the inner London boroughs and the City of London, education will continue to be provided by a single directly-elected education authority, which will take over the area and responsibilities of the ILEA when the GLC is abolished.
