§ Mr. Gristasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement about the meeting of the European Community Finance Council in Luxembourg on 1 October.
§ Mr. LawsonI represented the United Kingdom at this Council. After detailed discussion, the Council reached a wide measure of agreement on the measures necessary to guarantee the effective application of the principles of budgetary discipline agreed by the European Council at its meetings in March and June. There were, however, some outstanding reservations by the French and Danish Governments, which will require further consideration in the Council.
