Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if, in view of the problems being caused for the Woodford factory of British Aerospace, he will now give an indication when the contract for major servicing will be finalised, and when the Nimrod RTW contract will be awarded; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Butler

We expect to make a decision about Nimrod major servicing early in 1985 following competitive tender. We have no plans at present for a Nimrod return to works programme.
