HC Deb 22 October 1984 vol 65 c453W
Rev. William McCrea

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will list the number of teaching hospitals in the northern and western board areas; and if his Department has any plans for changes in these numbers.

Mr. Chris Patten

There are no designated teaching hospitals in the northern and western boards. However, some acute hospitals in these areas have small numbers of medical students attached to them for the purpose of gaining clinical experience. There are no plans to change the number of hospitals presently recognised for teaching purposes.
