asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many letters he has received from people residing in the Barnsley East constituency complaining about the South Yorkshire county council rates.

None since the White Paper on rates was published in August 1983.

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many letters he has received from people residing in the Sheffield Heeley area complaining about the levels of South Yorkshire county council rates.

Since August last year I have received 43 letters from people in Sheffield, and a petition of 3,050 signatories, complaining about the level of rates they have to pay. It is not possible to determine how many of those live in the Heeley area.

Mr. Hardy

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many letters he has received from residents in the Wentworth constituency complaining about the level of rates required by the South Yorkshire council so far in 1984 and in 1983.
