Locum medical and dental staff, hospital practitioners, clinical assistants and general medical practitioners participating in Hospital Staff Funds, and agency nursing and midwifery staff are excluded.

Dental Estimates Board and Prescription Pricing Authority staff are excluded.

Figures for 1959 and 1964 are a mixture of numbers and whole-time equivalents.
