HC Deb 22 October 1984 vol 65 c516W
Mr. Spearing

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement on the implementation of the Industrial Diseases (Notifications) Act.

Mr. John Patten

The form of the revised medical certificate of cause of death which will operate the provisions of this Act has been agreed. The significant change is that the new certificate will enable the certifying medical practitioner to indicate whether he believes that the employment followed by the deceased might have contributed to the cause of death.

The making and approval of the statutory instrument and the printing of supplies of the new form will be completed as soon as possible and it is planned to bring the new certificate into use in the early part of 1985.
