HC Deb 22 October 1984 vol 65 c490W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will give a breakdown of the contracts for £119 million placed with the Wimpey-Taylor Woodrow Consortium and the Laing-Mowlem-Aimey Roadstone Construction joint venture for work at Mount Pleasant in the Falklands.

Sir George Young

The further construction work at Mount Pleasant to enable the garrison to be concentrated there, is divided into two phases. The value of phase I for which the Laing-Mowlem-Aimey Roadstone joint venture is the main contractor is £27 million including shipping and other services. The comparable figure for phase II for which the Wimpey-Taylor Woodrow consortium is the main contractor is £92 million.
