Mr. Freud

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list, for each completed year of operation since the start of the tenants' exchange scheme on 1 April 1982, (a) the vote provision for the scheme, (b) the actual cost of the scheme and (c) the number of exchanges effected through the scheme (i) as reported by housing authorities in the housing investment programme returns and (ii) as a percentage of the total number of registrations under the scheme, including duplications.

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the number of registrations under the tenants' exchange scheme from 29 November 1983 to the most recent date for which figures are available, net of renewals; and if he will give an estimate of the number of renewals.

There were 33,876 registrations under the scheme between 29 November 1983 and 31 October 1984. Between 1 June 1984 (when they were first recorded separately) and 31 October 1984, there have been 7,909 renewals.
