HC Deb 28 November 1984 vol 68 c520W
Mr. Gordon Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list which in-house services in (a) Rosyth and (b) Plymouth, Devonport have been contracted out since 1979; and what is his estimate of the numbers of jobs affected.

Mr. Lee

Of the traditional in-house services, only cleaning tasks have been contracted out since 1979. This has produced manpower savings of 63 and 98 at Rosyth and Devonport respectively. Most of the displaced staff have been redeployed and redundancies have been limited to 51, all at Devonport.
