HC Deb 28 November 1984 vol 68 cc490-1W
Mr. Forth

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will set out in the Official Report the salaries and allowances payable to, and expenses which may be claimed by, United Kingdom Members of Parliament and British Members of the European Parliament.

Mr. Mellor

Members of Parliament are statutorily entitled to receive an additional salary of £5,369 p.a.—that is, one third of their salary as Members of Parliament—if they are also Members of the European Parliament.

The allowances payable to, and expenses which may be claimed by, Members of the European Parliament are matters for the Parliament itself. Full details can be obtained from the Secretary-General in Luxemburg.
