HC Deb 28 November 1984 vol 68 c511W
59. Mr. John Carlisle

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he intends to implement the recommendations of his recent working party report on football hooliganism.

69. Mr. Jim Callaghan

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many representations he has received from interested parties following the publication of "Football Spectator Violence" by his Department.

78. Mr. Moynihan

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what progress has been made in the round of consultations following the publication of the official working group's report on football spectator violence.

Mr. Macfarlane

I launched the Government's consultation on the report— "Football Spectator Violence: Report of an Official Working Group"—on 16 August. With Ministerial colleagues from the Home Office, Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Department of Transport I am holding a series of meetings with representative organisations who wish to contribute to the debate. At my invitation, the Football Association is represented at these meetings.

By mid-December the Government will have met 17 organisations representing all sectors of the game of football as well as the police, magistrates, press and researchers. I am also asking these organisations to submit detailed written comments within the next few weeks. In addition, my Department has received 32 written responses to the report from other organisations and individuals.

The Government, with the football authorities, will consider all the representations received during this consultation and will then make a further statement on its conclusions.
