§ Mr. Masonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what discussions he has had with the National Union of Licensed Victuallers and representatives from the brewery trade on flexible hours for public houses; if he is proposing to introduce legislation on this matter; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. MellorI met the National Union of Licensed Victuallers a year ago for a general discussion. Both I and officials have also met representatives of the brewing industry. These discussions have touched on the question of flexible hours in public houses.
My right hon. and learned Friend has no immediate plans to reform the licensing law, but we are keeping the matter under review.
