HC Deb 27 November 1984 vol 68 c467W
63. Mr. Peter Bruinvels

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what recent improvements his Department has sought in the maternity services.

Mr. John Patten

The Government have emphasised to health authorities, in their document, "Care in Action", the priority they attach to improvements in the maternity services. We have asked authorities to take action to improve their maternity services, where necessary, in the light of the advice given by the maternity services advisory committee, which the Government set up in 1981; and we will he asking regional health authorities in due course to report back on the action taken.
