HC Deb 27 November 1984 vol 68 c424W
Mr. Barron

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will place copies in the Library of the title deeds to Maltby common as supplied to him and the counsel's opinion referred to in his answer on 22 November, Official Report, column 281.

Mr. Macfarlane

[pursuant to his reply, 26 November 1984, c. 401]: No. The tile deeds and the counsel's opinion referred to are not his to place in the Library.

Mr. Barron

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment from whom he received the title deeds concerning Maltby common, which satisfied him in 1982 on the ownership question; and who these revealed to be the alleged owner of the common.

Mr. Macfarlane

[pursuant to his reply, 26 November 1984, c. 401]: The deeds were received from Messrs. Allen and Overy, solicitors acting for the Earl of Scarbrough. They satisfied the Department that the Earl of Scarbrough was the owner of Maltby common.
