§ Mr. FletcherThe White Paper, which was published in February 1984, met with general approval. A number of modifications, including wider grounds for relief from automatic disqualification made in the light of comments received, were announced on 1 August 1984. The principal of these were described in a memorandum, copies of which were placed in the Library of this House. As announced in the Queen's Speech, the Government will introduce a Bill during the current session of Parliament to give effect to their proposals.
