§ Mr. Colvinasked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will publish in the Official Report the annual figures since 1970 showing the number of cases in the following categories (a) leukaemias, (b) myeloid leukaemia, (c) Hodgkin's disease, (d) lymphosarcoma, (e) all diagnoses of cancer and (f) abnormalities at birth for the areas covered by (i) the Wessex regional health authority and (ii) the Southampton and South-West Hampshire health authority;
(2) if he will publish in the Official Report the annual figures since 1970 showing the number of cases in the following categories (a) leukaemias, (b) myloid leukaemia, (c) Hodgkin's disease, (d) lymphosarcoma. (e) all diagnoses of cancer and (f) abnormalities at birth, for England;
(3) if he will publish in the Official Report the annual figures since 1970 collected by the Southampton arid South-West Hampshire health authority showing the number of cases in the following categories (a) leukaemias, (b) myeloid leukaemia, (c) Hodgkin's disease, (d) lymphosarcoma, (e) all diagnoses of cancer and (f) abnormalities at birth (i) for the area around the Re-Chem plant at Hythe, Hampshire and (ii) for the area on the east side of the Solent opposite the Re-Chem plant.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeThe available information is shown in the tables. Numbers of newly diagnosed cases of cancer are not routinely available for areas below regional health authority level. Such figures are not considered reliable without detailed scrutiny and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost. For the requested causes, mortality data are more reliable than the notified numbers of new cases and these are given in the tables for each area.
Figures are given for county districts as these are the smallest areas for which figures are available for the entire period.
