HC Deb 23 November 1984 vol 68 c333W
Mr. Bulmer

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many members of his Department of the rank of assistant secretary or above have held a job in industry or commerce for at least a year; of these, how many have held a profit-accountable job in industry; and what proportions these represent in each case.

Mr. Butcher

[pursuant to the reply, 22 November 1984, c. 222–23]: Forty-six, or about one in four, of the officers of assistant secretary rank or above have held a job in industry or commerce for at least a year.

My Department has no means of identifying "profit-accountable" jobs.
