HC Deb 23 November 1984 vol 68 cc288-9W
Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the location of denaturation centres for surplus EC food in Scotland.

Mr. John MacKay

The Government do not run, nor do they pay private sector operators to run, centres for the denaturing of foodstuffs. Denaturing is carried out by commercial firms engaged in the animal feedstuffs industry. Feedstuff manufacturing plants at Cupar and Turriff are registered with the Intervention Board for Agricultural Produce for the disposal of skimmed milk powder which cannot otherwise be sold.
