HC Deb 22 November 1984 vol 68 c215W
Mr. Evennett

asked the Attorney-General what consideration the Lord Chancellor has given to allowing small claims courts to sit during the evening or on Saturdays.

The Attorney-General

I understand that the possibility of providing evening hearings in the county court for small claims cases was considered under the previous Administration a few years ago, but that the idea was not pursued because preliminary inquiries did not suggest there was sufficient demand for it. Any fresh consideration of this idea would, of course, also have to take into account the resource implications.
