asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he proposes to lay the statutory instruments referred to in section 9(2) of the Repatriation of Prisoners Act 1984; and if he will make a statement.

My right hon. and learned Friend hopes that an order under section 9(2) of the Act, bringing the Act into force, will be made early in the new year.
