Mr. Tom Cox

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many fines imposed on people convicted of prostitution at the South Western magistrates' court during the last 12 months have been under £10, under £20, between £20 and £50, between £50 and £100, over £100, over £200, over £300, over £400 and over £500, respectively.

The available information is given in the following table and covers offences of soliciting for the purposes of prostitution by both males and females.

The information available to me, which may be incomplete, is given in the table, and covers offences associated with prostitution. To produce figures for 1981 also would involve a disproportionate cost.

Soliciting by a man.

Brothel keeping.

Allowing child to be in brothel.

Permitting licensed premises to be the habitual resort of prostitutes.

Permitting licensed premises to be used as a brothel.

Persons keeping licensed premises or refreshment house to be the resort of prostitutes or reported thieves.

Offences by prostitutes.

Persons aiding and abetting offences by prostitutes.
