§ Mr. RentonWe have persistently made clear to the Iranian Government our disquiet about violations of human rights in Iran. We co-sponsored the resolution on this question at this year's UN Commission on Human Rights. The resolution, which was adopted on 14 March, urged Iran to respect its obligations as a State party to the international covenant on civil and political rights.
